What is the goal?

Effective, efficient and resilient immunization services are accessible to all people as an essential part of primary health care and thereby contribute to universal health coverage.

Who is this for?

This Special Event is for any health professional interested in Universal Health Coverage (UHC) and Primary Health Care (PHC), including:

  • Members of the Movement for Immunization Agenda 2030 (IA2030); and
  • Global, regional, and country IA2030 stakeholders.

Launch of the IA2030 Immunization for Primary Health Care (PHC): Framework for Action

This framework provides:

  1. examples of good practices from a range of countries and
  2. practical actions that immunization and PHC professionals at all levels of the health system can take.

The IA2030 Working Group on Strategic Priority 1 (SP1, Immunization Programmes for Primary Health Care and Universal Health Coverage) developed this framework to help EPI managers and other immunization stakeholders understand the role and relevance of immunization in strengthening PHC programs and PHC programs in strengthening immunization.

This framework will be presented publicly for the first time at the Special Event, and shared with all registered participants afterward.

Universal Health Coverage (UHC) lifts people out of poverty, promotes the well-being of families and communities, protects against public health crises, and moves us toward Health for All.

Immunization is a critical component of primary health care (PHC). Tell us what you are doing to strengthen PHC and immunization on the road to universal health coverage. What support do you need to get there?

What is Immunization Agenda 2030 (IA2030)?

The Immunization Agenda 2030 (IA2030) is the global immunization strategy for the decade 2021–2030. It has a clear vision – a world where everyone, everywhere, at every age fully benefits from vaccines for good health and well-being.

Immunization Agenda (IA2030) was unanimously adopted by countries at the World Health Assembly in 2020. It is supported by partner organizations from every country and region of the world.

What is the Movement for Immunization Agenda 2030?

At the Seventy-Fourth World Health Assembly, the Director General of the World Health Organization called for “a broad social movement for immunization that will ensure that immunization remains high on global and regional health agendas and help to generate a groundswell of support or social movement for immunization”.

In March 2022, The Geneva Learning Foundation (TGLF) and its partners launched a call to join the Movement. In the first six months, over 10,000 health professionals from 99 countries joined.

They are supporting each other to progress toward the goals of IA2030 by sharing ideas and practices, identifying root causes of their immunization challenges, and implementing corrective actions. On the road to impact, they are defying distance and boundaries and sharing successes and lessons learned to contribute to the global movement for immunization.
