Malaria care journey: turn one private-provider challenge into a plan
What can you do when…
- a drug shop sell tablets for days, without a test, before the child reaches you?
- a shop owner you trained still not refer patients, for fear of losing customers?
- a family skip the test because they cannot pay for both the test and the medicine?
- a private clinic near you treat without testing and send no reports?
- a healer or a family keep a convulsing child at home, believing the illness is spiritual?
These are some of the challenges shared by health leaders in the Malaria: turning the tide programme. In this new certification, you pick one real-world challenge you face, dig to its root cause, and figure out what you can do about it.
Who this is for
You work for health, and malaria affects the people you serve. Experience with private providers is not required. It also prepares you to enter TGLF’s Malaria Impact Accelerator.
What changes for you
- Today, you see children arrive too late, and you deal with it alone.
- At the end, you found at least one root cause, and you have actions you can take to make a difference.
How you learn with peers
- Read real-world stories: one sick person, many providers, and one relationship a colleague tried to change.
- Write your own challenge, root cause, and goal, asking “why?” five times.
- Colleages help you, you help them, and everyone improves.
Why take this certification
- You leave with a plan you can put into action.
- You learn from colleagues who have already done it.
- Improving collaboration between sectors fits what your country is trying to do.
Certification
You earn a Certificate of Contribution from The Geneva Learning Foundation. When your plan is ready, you enter the Malaria Impact Accelerator, where you implement your plan, learning from and supporting colleagues.
