Who is this for?

Are you working with Ukrainian displaced children as an education, social work, or health professional? This self-guided module is part of the Certificate peer learning programme on Psychological First Aid (PFA) in support of children affected by the humanitarian crisis in Ukraine. As such, participation is open to professionals from Ukraine and 27 European Union (EU) and European Economic Area (EEA) member states.

What will you learn?

This practical introduction to Psychological First Aid (PFA) for children shows you how to recognize when children need support and respond in ways that help. Through real stories shared by Red Cross workers, volunteers, and frontline responders supporting children displaced across Europe, you will learn:

Basic principles of psychological first aid for children
What to do (and what not to do) when children are in distress
When and how to connect children with additional support
How to take care of yourself while helping others
